Liquid diet

We can often see the patient who has surgery having liquid diet. Because they are difficult in eating solid food and in order to get enough nutrition. The doctors always recommend them to do so. As for weight loss, liquid diet is the diet that is to control calorie intake by making people eat all liquids or mostly liquids. The liquid diet may include particularly conceived diet which can be based on the consumption of teas, fruit or vegetable juice. There are no special requirement like others such as the over counter programs which are designed by a physician and medically supervised. The diet will reduce daily calorie intake to about 400 to 800 calories (the normal calorie is from 1500 to 3000). Then it is supposed to result in fast weight loss with minimal effort. Losing weight with minimal effort sounds cool. It is a win-win. Many ads advertise that we can have slimmer figures and detoxify our body by drinking entirely.

So how does it work and can it work?

Some liquid diet programs recommend strictly fluid only with shakes or juices replace all of our meals. Replacing our breakfast and lunch with liquids and offering us a healthy, balanced supper.  Sometimes it can include a snack. There are shakes in the diet which are high in protein, low in fat and calories. Some of them may provide us with proper nutrition our body needs, but according to nutritionists, most of them can be harmful to our healthy and cause lots of healthy problems if they are not be taken carefully. Some of them are not supervised plans. The liquid diet may significantly reduce the amount of calories. It is sure to lose weight as we eat fewer calories than we burn off. If we keep it for a long time, we may get sick including muscle cramps, anemia, dizziness, menstrual abnormality, gall stones and constipation. We are likely to be malnourished, such as being shortage of minerals, vitamins, protein and fiber. Furthermore, there is a good chance to gain back our previous weight after the diet period is over if there are no healthy eating habits and enough exercise.

Some people analyze the liquid diet to two different kinds of diets, the full liquid diet and the clear liquid diet. The clear liquid diet consists of clear or transparent liquid foods, taking meat or vegetable broth for examples. The full liquid diet can be opaque or transparent. And the nutritionists are trying hard to balance them and use them to the process of losing weight which can be helpful to dieters who desire to lose weight and keep healthy.
